Elana + Cody are engaged!! We are so in love with their engagement session at Piedmont Park with Eve! This location is very special to them as they spend the evening of their engagement in this very park!
We asked them to tell us their proposal story and boy, it is adorable! After wining and dining at Park Tavern, Elana said “I mentioned wanting dessert– which we only indulge in occasionally– and Cody easily agreed to walk to Ponce City Market to hit up the cookie dough counter “Batter.” That’s really when I should have known…We walked the Beltline, got our dough, and then slowly made our way back to the car which was parked at Piedmont Park. At this point, I was short of breath, sleepy, and sore. Definitely ready to go back to bed and continue recuperating from being sick and tired from the summer.
Instead, Cody took my purse and my leftovers and locked them in the car before I could get in. I thought…”Ok, he is either going to murder me or propose. Why else would he take my purse away from me?” He led me to a swinging park bench overlooking the pond. We sat, we swang, and we carved our initials into the bench (but we weren’t the first ones to do it, so we shouldn’t get in trouble!) While he was finishing up our carving, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a dainty, shiny, sparkling ring. I think I gasped. “What is that?!” I asked. He smiled and said, “A ring.” So I asked “Is it mine?” I was being so obnoxious! But he was totally cool and replied “If you say yes…” and there, while he was on his knee, he asked me to marry him. And, of course, I said yes. Then I made him ask me a few more times so that I’d know it was real. We made it back to the car and called my parents to tell them the news.
When we got back to our apartment, I opened the door expecting to see our Shirley girl wagging and waiting. Instead, my dearest friends, Shannon and Zach, who live in Chicago, were there! They had decorated our living room with balloons and streamers and had champagne and desserts ready to go! “
Congratulations, Elana + Cody!! xoxo, The OLAS Team
