Atlanta Engagement Session :: Jennifer + Jake :: with Debbie N.
Jennifer + Jake are too precious for words. Luckily, we got both of them to give us their story from their own perspectives and now we love them even more… in addition to their gorgeous four-legged baby!
Jennifer’s Words:
“I’ve always been a believer that everything happens for a reason and that God has a plan for each of us. Jake and I met the summer of 2016 through mutual friends at a pool party. I remember thinking Jake was easy to talk to and fun to be with. I felt pretty comfortable around him right away, although I wasn’t immediately interested when Jake asked me on a date the first time (or the second, or the third time!). But Jake was persistent (which I liked!) and finally I thought, “why not?” and I decided to give him a chance. We quickly realized we had many of the same interests and shared the same values when it comes to family, friends, and our love for Golden Retrievers. I’ll admit it – I definitely fell in love with Jake’s golden retriever, Charlie, before I realized I had fallen in love with Jake. Over the next year and a half, we spent our time hiking, camping, cooking together, traveling, converting Jake into a Gator fan, going to Braves games, spending time with our families, and even running two half marathons – which if you know me at all, you are probably just as surprised as I was that Jake got me running! At some point in our time together, we realized we had actually met each other the summer before we really met. My friends and I had attended a Braves game in which we met up with a group of guys one of the girls knew. Jake and I both remember being at that game with each other’s friend groups but don’t specifically remember each other. We may never know why we didn’t hit it off that day, or what we both needed to experience and learn in that year before we knew each other, but I am so grateful that God had a plan and he eventually brought us together. In November, Jake and I went on a trip to the Bahamas and Jake surprised me when he got down on one knee. I am so excited for us to begin our life together and for all of the adventures God has in store for us down the road!”
Jake’s Words:
“Our journey began long before we went on a date. Jen and I actually met at a Braves’ tailgate a year before, however, we were both with large friend groups and nothing came from the encounter. Fast forward a year and we met again through a mutual friend. This time things were different. It was a smaller setting and not as chaotic as a Brave’s tailgate in the blue lot. I fell head over heels for Jen and made numerous attempts to take her on a date. I was turned down on multiple occasions but I was so attracted to her beauty, quick sense of humor, and down to earth personality that I was determined to take her on a date so we could get to know each other better. I shrugged off my many failed attempts. Well a few weeks later, in August of 2016, we were hanging out with mutual friends again and got to know each other better. We had such a good time together that I figured I had to try one more time. I asked her if she was free the following week for a date. She said yes. It wouldn’t be the last time she said that simple three letter word. Many more dates and adventures followed and the rest was history.”
Congratulations, Jennifer + Jake!! xoxo, The OLAS Team
