“July 21, 2018 was the best day of our lives! What surprised me most about the day was how quickly it flew by. So many people had warned me of this but it really was such a blur. I tried to make a point of stopping at different moments throughout the day to soak it all in, but looking back now, it just feels like a dream!
There are three memories that stand out the most. The first is from a moment of prayer Michael and I had with our families and officiant just before the ceremony. I remember holding their hands and standing in a circle, listening to beautiful blessings from our loved ones as one of my favorite songs played in the background. The second is from my dance with my dad. At one point during the song, he picked me up and spun me around in a circle like he used to do when I was a little girl. It was a few seconds of pure joy! The third moment is the most special to me. It was during our last song of the night, which was “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. As Michael and I were dancing, the happy tears began to flow as I thought back on the day and how perfect and magical it had turned out to be. All of a sudden, fireworks started going off at Atlantic Station. As we danced, they lit up the sky right outside our windows, almost like they were our own private show. It truly was the most surreal experience and was the cherry on top of an incredible day!
Looking back on the day, there are a few things we’re really glad we included. One was writing our own vows. This felt intimidating and a little stressful at first, but ended up being very special for both of us. Another was having our moms do readings during the ceremony. They each chose beautiful passages and it meant a lot to us to have them involved. We love you, moms! The last thing was taking a few moments to ourselves during cocktail hour. It was the only time we got to be alone the whole day and it was so nice to have a few seconds together to breathe, catch up, and celebrate!
Being married is the best! Michael and I have lived together in our house for a little over a year, so not much has changed in that sense. But the comfort that comes from knowing that we are officially committed to each other, come what may, for the rest of our lives is amazing! We know life won’t always be easy or perfect, but we couldn’t be happier that we get to do it together!”
Congratulations, Jenny + Michael! xoxo, The OLAS Team
