Highlights :: Carrie + Brian's Wedding at The Wolfeboro Inn in Wolfeboro, NH :: with Graham

At what point did you feel the most joyful on your wedding day :: I felt joyous all day – between being made to look like a princess, having mimosas with my ladies, and really basking in all that was wonderful about the beautiful day. It was perfect. Brian felt the most joyous when his mother arrived – due to some personal issues, his mother, who is 71 years old, wasn’t sure she was going to be able to attend the wedding. And since Brian’s father passed away in 1995, his mother is the only family he has. But, we held the ceremony a few minutes, and she squeaked in just in time – and looked lovely! And Brian was ecstatic.

Tell us something interesting about your wedding :: Now, the story that really needs to be told… my mother made my garters. She hand stitched them out of beautiful lace, and the smoothest satin I’ve ever seen. The lace was from her wedding dress, and was my “something old”. Well, like every bride, I had silky smooth legs on my wedding day. As my dad was walking me down the aisle, I felt the garter on my right leg start to slip with that smooth satin on my smooth leg. Of course, my first thought was, “Please don’t let me trip over this garter in front of all these people!” Thankfully I had a wedding dress with an absolutely ginormous bell skirt, so no one saw my wardrobe malfunction, and I was confident that as long as I didn’t trip over it, it would stay in the skirt of my dress. Well… not so much. After the “I do’s” and the kiss and recessional, I turned to my Maid of Honor, and explained that I had a garter somewhere in my dress, as it hadn’t been sitting in the aisle after the ceremony. So, up under my dress my bridesmaids went, trying to find and situate my garter. Meanwhile, my Uncle, who is a bear of a man with twinkling eyes and a big laugh saunters over, asking whats going on under my dress. I am of course, starting to get flustered, and he says, “I think I have something that belongs to you,” and laughing, pulls my garter out of his suit jacket pocket. He had been seated on the aisle, and scooped up the garter before anyone else saw it. He handed it to me with a wink and a smile and stated, “I didn’t realize this was THAT kind of wedding!”
