Kara + Addisu’s wedding was totally boho chic meets European garden affair… the details were stunning but the most beautiful part of all was the pure, ecstatic joy these two radiated throughout the whole day! The energy was electric and absolutely enchanting. There’s a lot to love about this wedding but what we might love most is the complete support that was shared by their family and friends – what a gift!
These two newlyweds met while they were both working at the same major news channel. Once they were both single, they became fast friends and… the rest is history! After over 7 years together, now, and ever since their engagement in Montreal they have been so excited to finally make their love “official.” We’re so excited to say these two are MARRIED and we’re so grateful we were there to capture it all.
We had the chance to talk to Kara afterwords to hear about how they experienced their day…
Q: Tell us about your wedding! How would you describe the overall vibe/feeling of your day? Anything special that you planned and couldn’t wait to see come together?
A: “On our wedding day we just felt abundantly surrounded by love! We felt this throughout the entire day; from the start of getting ready in the morning to the last drink of the night. It was all about the meaningful touches and just trying to ensure our family and friends could feel the love we felt on that day. We couldn’t wait to see how everything came together. From the florals, including the table arrangements, the ceremony floral curtain, the bouquets and boutonnieres, to the favor bags, personalized coasters, and framed signage scattered throughout. We worked so hard on the details, it was so nice to see it all in one place how it was initially envisioned.”
Q: Is there a moment that stands out above the rest, now that you’ve been married for a few weeks?
A: “All of the moments prior to our ceremony are so memorable. Our first look was so special. It was something we’ll never forget. We were both so nervous but we were so happy to have stolen a few moments alone to help ease any jitters we might have about standing in front of our loved ones.
We were sure to take moments with those close to us at the venue prior to the ceremony too. The groom bringing in all the guys for a toast! And the bride with her family sneaking a peak of the guests arriving! We’ll never forget, as the ceremony was about to begin, our sibling party, parents, niece and nephews cheering inside the venue. It got us all pumped to really go out and do this thing! That was pretty remarkable.”
Q: What did you love most about working with OLAS?
A: “Once Like A Spark was so great to work with. Jenna and Eddy, our photographers couldn’t have been more amazing. They were so fun, sweet and accommodating. Our family and friends kept saying so too!! It has been a pleasure working with Once Like A Spark. The one word I would use is stress-free. Since weddings can be so stressful it was such a relief to have that element.”
Q: How, if at all, are you incorporating elements from your wedding into your home or everyday life? Anything special that you’re excited to keep for years to come?
A: “When brainstorming for the decor of our wedding we definitely didn’t want to go overboard, so the things we did look to purchase, we tried to keep in mind for potential usage after the wedding too. We used a bunch of picture frames for wedding signage, so we’ll be using those throughout our home! Maybe a potential gallery wall is in our future! Plus, our ceremony rug, it could be a nice dining room or bedroom rug down the road.”
Congratulations Kara + Addisu!! xoxo, The OLAS Team
