Allison + Will’s wedding was so special to be a part of – it was a private backyard affair and the sweet, intimate feel was beautiful to witness. We love how they planned a day that was all their own – from the backyard setting to their equally tender and playful ceremony. We could say SO much about this wedding but we think Allison says it best…
“Our wedding was honestly exactly how I wanted it to be. We knew that we didn’t want a traditional, big wedding and even though there were doubts from a few family members about us planning a small backyard wedding, I’m glad we stuck to our guns and had the wedding we wanted. We were able to personalize the day from start to finish and so everything felt like us. At the end of the day, there were no doubts from anyone or questions about whether or not we had the wedding that was right for us- it was and felt perfect. There were a lot of late nights spent getting everything right, but it was all worth it. The day was relatively stress-free because we kept it small and intimate. Not only did we get to have the wedding we wanted, but we were able to show our family and closest friends how much we love each other in a genuine way and give them a meaningful experience that would create long-lasting memories.
We chose to have our best friend, Rachel Frank, be our officiant. I wrote the ceremony and she edited and added sections to make it perfect. Because so much heart and time went into the ceremony, I was so anxious to see how it would all play out. Hearing Rachel read the ceremony that we collaborated on and having our families be so impressed by our words was such a good feeling. I’m a very sentimental and emotional person and this part of the day was THE most important part to me- that’s what the day is centered around after all! So to have it be such a personalized, beautiful representation of Will and I’s relationship and love, it just really meant a lot to me and it’s something I’ll always remember.
Our photographer, Lisa, was amazing. We could not have asked for a better match. Our families kept asking things like, is she your friend? And honestly, it felt like we did know her and like she was a friend! She was so easy to get along with and made the day super relaxed for me (and I can be pretty high strung). Our families loved her and still joke about inviting her to all of our future family gatherings.
Being married is amazing. Will and I had been together for eight years before tying the knot and it feels so great to finally be official. Our day to day lives haven’t changed much, but there is something so comforting in sharing a last name and officially being our own family unit. We’re still not over how strange it is to officially call each other husband and wife!”
Congratulations, Allison + Will!! xoxo, The OLAS Team
