The Willcox Wedding in Aiken, SC :: April + Charles :: with Kathleen

We are loving this light-filled wedding in Aiken, South Carolina!! April + Charles are absolute magic and their wedding photos are just as amazing as we knew they’d be. They have been loving each other for 5 years and we are so happy to see them tie the knot! The Wilcox was such a unique and fun venue to celebrate their love and we cannot wait to watch their love grow!!

We caught up with April to ask more about what she loved most about her wedding and how it feels to be married!! Here’s what she had to say…

“I was surprised at how at ease I felt the day of the wedding. All the planning paid off! I knew I chose fantastic vendors and my wedding planner was such a great help as well. Also, I was surprised at how emotional the wedding ceremony was. I couldn’t look into the audience without crying so I tried to put on imaginary blinders! I loved our first dance! We danced to “You’re All I Need to Get By” by Tami Terrell and Marvin Gaye. I felt like I was floating on Cloud 9 during the song. I was so happy! And my aunt had the DJ play “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion. That had me bawling my eyes out! My whole family got on the dance floor and hugged me. My mom passed away when I was 16 so that meant so much to me. Also, Charlie and I sang and danced to “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. He sang to me while I played air guitar haha! My friends got that on video and it’s absolutely hilarious. All of my favorite moments were on the dance floor! I’m happy I had my aunts (my mom’s sisters) walk me down the aisle. It was a way to honor my late mother and showcase how important they are to me. Also, at the end of the night, we rode away on a horse and carriage! I wanted something more low key but Charlie’s mom insisted. She said we needed to leave in style haha! It was so much fun and I felt like a princess when I left. Also, Aiken is a known horse town so it was a nod to my city of birth!

“Amazing! You really don’t think anything will change. And it kinda does and it kinda doesn’t. Charlie has commented on how it feels like we are a part of a team now. We ARE because now we’re a tiny, nascent family! It’s just the beginning and I’m so happy I have such an amazing partner to go through life with. But I still haven’t gotten used to saying husband yet haha!”
